The new spacesuit, known as the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit , or xEMU , is still in development, but its features have nearly been finalize. It is already being testd underwater, with orbital tests scheuld for 2023.

Instead of building something completely new from scratch, NASA engineers previous design.
